Meghalaya, under its Early Childhood Development Mission is implementing a program that offers age appropriate ECD packages to the mother-child dyad, to be implemented between March 2023-2028 across 12 districts of Meghalaya. The program aims to impact early child development (0-6 years) by improving access and quality of childcare through the institutional support. While the efficacy of these interventions within the age-appropriate bundles has been established to some extent, how these can be deployed in a public system setting, what should be the program design for an integrated approach, and how this design can be made gender sensitive are not known. What would be the effectiveness of this program designed at scale, to influence child growth and development is also not known. Population Council Institute is evaluating the impact of these interventions on early child development and assessing the change pathways proposed by the program.
