Importance of IRB Approval

The IRB's primary objective is safeguarding the rights and well-being of human subjects participating in research activities overseen by its authority. It focuses on ensuring the welfare, rights, and confidentiality of research participants. The IRB is empowered to approve, exempt, reject, monitor, and request changes to all research endeavors falling under its jurisdiction, as delineated by federal regulations and institutional policies.

IRB Application Process

  • 1Request for IRB Application details
    Please send an email to irb@pcinstitute.org.in to request details on the application process.
  • 2Application Submission

    You will receive the application format from IRB

    • 1Application Form for Initial Review for PCI IRB
    • 2Format of Technical Summary and Detailed Protocol
    • 3Format for Curriculum Vitae for Investigators

    Submit these forms along with the required protocol.

  • 3Protocol review by PCI IRB and Timing
    The protocol will be shared with IRB members at least one week before the IRB meeting.
  • 4Communication of Proposal Presentation Date.
    The meeting date for making a brief presentation of the proposal will be communicated to you via email. The presentation can be delivered online through Zoom meetings. Zoom meeting link for the presentation will be sent by IRB.
  • 5Presentation and IRB Feedback
    The Principal Investigator or the Co-Principal Investigator need to present the protocol either in-person or online via Zoom meetings, following which there will be questions and suggestions made by the IRB members.
  • 6Post-Presentation Responsibilities and Timeline
    The minutes of the meeting along with IRB members’ feedback will be shared with the applicant. The applicant needs to respond to the query raised by the IRB members and submit the revised/updated protocol/consent forms/tools.
  • 7Approval Timeline and Communication
    Post review of the revised submission by the IRB members, status of the application (approved or rejected) will be communicated to the principal investigator via email.
