Sunlac Paints traces its roots back to the year 1942 when the visionary Late Shri S.K. Mehra and his brothers established Mera Chemicals in Lahore, Undivided India. This pioneering venture quickly gained recognition for its manufacturing of import-substitute chemicals, challenging the dominance of British companies. Among their notable achievements was the establishment of reactors with distillation processes, a first in United India, enabling the production of Butyl Acetate and Ethyl Acetate.

Following the partition, the Mehra brothers resettled in Delhi and embarked on a new journey by founding a factory dedicated to the production of paints for both metal and wood surfaces. Their commitment to innovation and quality led to becoming an approved vendor for Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd, supplying specialized coatings for aircraft.

Mera Chemicals continued to push boundaries by introducing groundbreaking products such as NC Putty, Metal Primer,

NC Sanding Sealer, NC Top Coat Clear, NC Colours, Stoving Paints, and Flamboyant Colours, setting new standards in the industry.

In 1988, the legacy continued as Late Shri S.K. Mehra, along with his sons Shri Ashwani Mehra and Shri Kapil Mehra, founded Sunlac Paints Pvt Ltd. This marked the beginning of a new chapter in the journey, focusing on the manufacturing of a comprehensive range of paints, thinners, primers, wood sealers, and putty.

The commitment to excellence and customer satisfaction propelled Sunlac Paints Pvt Ltd to new heights. In 2004, the company took a significant step forward by converting into a Public Limited entity, further cementing its position as a leader in the paints industry. Since then, Sunlac Paints Limited, a Joint Venture of Erstwhile Sunlac, Powertek, and Colortek, has continued to innovate, expand, and uphold the values instilled by its founders, becoming synonymous with quality and reliability in the market.

Powertek Coatings

Powertek Coatings traces its roots back to the visionary leadership of Late Mr. Pitam Lal Batra, whose journey in the industry began in 1960 as a Sales & Marketing employee with Shaw Wallace & Co (Jainson & Nicolson). Fueled by a spirit of entrepreneurship, in 1966, he embarked on his own business venture alongside his brother, focusing on paints and chemicals. This marked the genesis of Powertek Corporation's legacy.

1992 Launched metallic range of products in QD and only supplier of Jade Green for DTC Buses followed by other metallic shades and became pioneer in Fast Drying Category.

Entered into polymers and started manufacturing of resin in 2002.

The company rapidly gained momentum and established its manufacturing plant in west part of Uttar Pradesh (Ghaziabad) , laying the foundation for its future growth and success. In 1975, Mr. Pitam Lal Batra took a bold step forward by founding his own firm , Freeman Industry, further solidifying his presence in the industry.

The journey continued with the entry of Mr. Manoj Batra in 1984, bringing fresh perspective and energy to the company. In 1989, Mr. Deep Batra joined, adding to the business collective expertise and dedication.

In 2005, Powertek Coatings emerged as a testament to the business dedication enduring commitment to excellence and innovation. The company quickly distinguished itself by introducing renowned brands such as Maglo, Dash, Raja, Toughglow, and Milo, becoming synonymous with quality and reliability in the market.

A true trailblazer in the industry, Powertek Coatings achieved a significant milestone by being the first company in India to introduce in-house manufacturing of PU Dispersion, under the brand name Potenza. This water- based PU revolutionized the industry, setting new standards for quality and performance.

Powertek Coatings commitment to innovation extended beyond its products, as evidenced by its collaboration with the Delhi Police in pioneering innovative marketing initiatives, setting new benchmarks for industry engagement and community involvement.

Colortek Polymer

COLORTEK POLYMERS has a rich history steeped in innovation and dedication to excellence. It all began in 1970 when Mr. Shital Kumar Jain, armed with a degree in Electrical Engineering, delved into the realm of sales and marketing in the paints and allied products industry. With a keen eye for opportunity, he pioneered the establishment of a greenfield C&F network in Delhi for various renowned paint manufacturing companies, marking the inception of his journey in the sector.

After 15 years of successful business operations, Mr. Jain shifted his focus to plastic coatings in 1985, recognizing the potential in this burgeoning field. This foresight culminated in the establishment of manufacturing operations in 1992, laying the foundation for what would become COLORTEK POLYMERS.

The company quickly garnered acclaim within the industry, earning approvals from leading white goods manufacturers such as LG, Panasonic, Havells, Polycab, Bajaj, Usha, Orient, and CG. This widespread recognition underscored the company's commitment to quality and innovation.

Mr. Girish Jain, joining the company in 1991, and Mr. Atul Jain, joining in 1998, played instrumental roles in supporting and advancing the company's mission.

COLORTEK POLYMERS emerged as an early leader in Thermo Plastics Acrylics (TPA), demonstrating a relentless pursuit of cutting-edge technology and materials. With an annual resin capacity of 6000 MT, including 250 MT per month of Resin PU, 100 MT per month of Resin Alkyd, and 150 MT per month of Resin Acrylics, the company established itself as a formidable force in the manufacturing of paints.

A pioneer in the development of Monocoat Acrylics for plastics components and TV cabinets, COLORTEK POLYMERS showcased its innovative prowess and commitment to providing efficient solutions to industry challenges.

The company's unwavering dedication to quality and excellence was further underscored by its ISO certification, ensuring adherence to international standards of manufacturing and service delivery.
